What to see in Krabi

In Krabi, besides the longtail boat tours on the river, to see mangroves and visit the many caves along the tiver, the most famous attraction is Wat Tham Seua temple (literally Temple of the Tiger Cave). probably the most famous cave temple in Thailand.
I also listed at the end of the page some good tours, excursions and activities that you can do in Krabi or from Krabi. Click here to see them.

Must-visits in Krabi

Wat Tham Suea (Tiger Cave Temple)

วัดถ้ําเสือ
My opinion :
Called Wat Tham Seua in Thai, it is the most interesting temple to visit in Krabi. It owes its name to one of its many caves (the tiger cave) and offers a magnificent view over Krabi province from a sanctuary on the top of a mountain. The climb is rough (1260 steps) but the view definitely worths it! This is one of the must visits in Krabi.
emerald-pool-krabi.jpg

Emerald Pool

สระมรกต
My opinion :
This magnificent green-emerald water swimming pool attracts more and more people. Open to the bath, its crystal clear water makes it a pleasant place to bathe. The Emerald Pool is about fifty kilometers from Krabi or Ao Nang.

Tab Kak Hang Nak Nature Trail

เขาหงอนนาค
My opinion :
This trail in the mountains about forty kilometers from Krabi offers one of the most beautiful panoramas in Thailand. The 3.7 kilometers long climb is quite physical but the view at the summit is just amazing !
koh-hong-krabi-thailand.jpg

Koh Hong

เกาะห้อง
My opinion :
This pretty island is probably the most visited on the outskirts of Krabi or Ao Nang. It offers a small, charming beach with a bit of snorkeling and a beautiful lagoon surrounded by a circle of limestone peaks.
pak-bia-island-krabi-2.jpg

Koh Pak Bia

เกาะผักเบี้ย
My opinion :
This small island and its famous sandbank is generally on the program of boat tours from Krabi or Ao Nang that go to Koh Hong. It does not lack charm but is quite touristy.
ban-koh-klang-krabi.jpg

Ban Koh Klang Community

บ้านเกาะกลาง
My opinion :
This island is located on Krabi River about 10 minutes from Krabi town and hosts an interesting rural local community that grows rice, makes batik and has a traditional Thai boat models maker. An off the beaten track visit for those looking for something other than islands, temples and beaches.
krabi-walking-street-3.jpg

Krabi Town Walking Street

ถนนคนเดิน
My opinion :
Like all Walking Streets except the one in Pattaya, it's a big night market that takes place a few days a week, in Krabi on weekends, in a few streets of the city, cut off from traffic for a few hours. It's especially nice to eat a wide variety of Thai Street Food.
khao-khanab-nam-krabi-1.jpg

Khao Khanab Nam

เขาขนาบน้ำ
My opinion :
These two mountain peaks that are on either side of the Krabi River, and that can be seen from the city center, are one of the most famous images of Krabi. Accessible only by boat, they host interesting caves.

Other visits suggestions in Krabi

  • Krabi River
    For its mangroves and caves
  • Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta islands
Phi Phi is very popular with tourists for the landscape of turquoise sea, limestone mountains and green forests. Koh Lanta, more wild, is ,for now, less crowded and more peaceful.
  • Ao Nang Bay
A few kilometers from Krabi, the very touristy beachfront has numerous accommodation resorts. This is the beach where everyone goes from Krabi. As for us the islands near or Railay isthmus are more interesting places.
  • Railay or Tonsay
only accessible by boat from Ao Nang or Tha Khong Ka pier in Krabi for instance, it is an amazing piece of wild nature. Completly dedicated to tourists, it is still a beautiful place to stay where the turquoise sea surrounds high limestone cliffs.
