Din Daeng Doi is a small mountain located about 20 minutes drive from Ao Nang and 30 minutes from Krabi town. Its summit offers a more than 180° view of the surroundings with the sea on one side and the karst peaks facing the countryside on the other. It's a great place to come and have breakfast facing the sunrise in an incredible panorama! There is a coffee shop upstairs. The 500 meter ascent between the car park and the summit is not that difficult. If you are fit, going up takes about fifteen minutes (with my 4 and a half year old daughter, it took us around 20 minutes).

To watch the sunrise at the top of Din Daeng Doi Viewpoint in Krabi, you have to arrive at around 6 a.m. at the parking lot to be at the top at around 6:30 a.m. Having some trouble to make my wife and daughter wake up so early, I was there only around 7:30 am. It was still an incredible setting for having breakfast but the sun was already up. Sometimes the surrounding landscape is covered in a sea of mist.

The breakfast menu doesn't offer a huge selection but there are several breakfast plates and rotis (crispy pancakes) and several choices of blended juices and coffees. The prices are very reasonable (35 THB for a roti and 50 THB for a breakfast plate with toast, fried egg, salad and sausage). The most beautiful view is on the sunrise side but you can also see the sunset from up there.

Practical information about Din Daeng Doi Viewpoint

Admission: 50 THB per person.
Open from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., opening just before sunrise and closing just after sunset.
It seems that if you don't want to go up there by walking the stairs and the path in the mountain, there is a pickup system to take you up there by a dirt road for 30 THB per person but I am not sure as it was written but not offered during my last visit.
