What to see in Buriram

Buriram city only has a few notable attractions and none can compete with the Phanom Rung temple fifty kilometers far away. This is essentially this khmer temple that attracts tourists in Buriram or in Nang Rong a little closer to it.

Must-visits in Buriram

Phanom Rung Buriram

Phanom Rung

พนมรุ้ง
My opinion :
Khmer temple built on top of an extinct volcano . You access to it by a long paved walkway and a beautiful staircase. Very unique! With the temple of Phimai, these are the two finest Khmer temples in Thailand.

  • Khao Kradong Forest Park
6 km from Buriram, on an extinct volcano whose crater is now filled by a lake and whose summit houses the Phra Suphattharabophit, a huge sitting Buddha that became the symbol of Buriram city.
  • Wat Khao Angkhan
and its magnificent Buddhas wall. The temple is an very interesting architectural mix of styles from several times. Inside the main building, there are murals with stories of Buddhism in English.
