Initially, the Buriram City Pillar Shrine was a wooden house with a metal roof. But in 1969, it was rebuilt into a more solid and sustainable building. A mondop Thai and Chinese style was then erected. Finally in 2005, the monument you can see today was built. They choose to build a Khmer-style prang reflecting the identity of the province.

If you are staying in town, you can probably get to Buriram City Pillar Shrine by walking. Otherwise, hire a tuk-tuk. There must also be local bus lines that pass nearby but I don't know the routes.
