Nakhon Si Thammarat province is located in the south of Thailand. It is coastal in the Gulf of Thailand. It is a cultural and natural destination offering a wealth of history and traditions such as Nang Talung shadow theater and batik. There are also ancient temples there, including the most famous, Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan and its large white chedi, its bronze Buddha statue dating from the 13th century which is located in the formerly fortified city of Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Foreign tourists come relatively few to the provincial capital, on the other hand, Khanom and its long beach, as well as Sichon, attract some of them looking for a not too touristy and peaceful beach destination .
