Day 1: Transfer to the village, Lahu cuisine and crafts
09:00 – Departure from your hotel in Chiang Rai
On the way to the mountains, stop at a local market to choose fresh ingredients together for the meals prepared in the village.
Arrival at the Lahu village
Welcome by your host family: then take a walk through the village to discover daily life, stilt houses and the surrounding landscapes. Your English-speaking guide will introduce you to the culture and customs of the Lahu people.
Cooking class and wood-fire lunch: you will help prepare the meal over a traditional fire with your hosts, then share a friendly lunch with the family.
Afternoon: Traditional weaving workshop. You will learn the basics of Lahu weaving techniques and create a small souvenir to take home.
Dinner and evening: after picking vegetables and herbs from the garden, you will prepare dinner with your Lahu hosts before enjoying an evening of games and exchanges with the villagers.
Night in a traditional house
Day 2: Hiking, cooking in nature and waterfall
Around 8:30: Breakfast in the village. Enjoy a local breakfast before heading out for a hike through the surrounding hills.
Walk through the crops: set off on an easy walk along a trail that crosses rice fields, coffee plantations, pineapple farms, rubber trees and terraced vegetable fields typical of the northern Thai mountains.
Nature break and swimming: learn how to make bamboo cups and chopsticks before cooling off in a lovely waterfall hidden in the jungle.
Lunch in nature: prepare a delicious meal cooked inside bamboo and served on banana leaves.
Return to the village and goodbye: after a few nature-inspired games, return to your Lahu homestay to say goodbye to the family before heading back to Chiang Rai.
17:00: Return to Chiang Rai. Arrival expected in the late afternoon, with wonderful memories in your heart.
Who are the Lahu?
The Lahu are a mountain people of Tibeto-Burmese origin who have lived for over a century in the mountains of northern Thailand. Known for their harmonious relationship with nature, their craftsmanship and strong community spirit, they live mainly from agriculture and weaving. Despite the growing influence of modernity in the region, the Lahu proudly preserve their traditions, their language and their warm hospitality.
