''doi'' in Thailand, Doi Chang is a mountain. Close to Chiang Rai City, Doi Chang is known throughout Thailand for its world-class unique coffee. Here, formerly, the region was a place of culture and traffic of opium. Thanks to a royal project initiated by King Bhumibhol Adulyadej, Rama 9, to improve people's livelihoods and reduce the illicit cultivation of drugs in the area, hill tribe farmers were encouraged to grow winter plants rather than opium. The Arabica coffee plants were one of the winter crops provided for this project. Today, Doi Chaang coffee is one of the most famous coffee in the world and the best in Thailand.
Going up to the village of Doi Chang, you will be able to see the coffee plantations, discover the stages of its cultivation and processing and of course enjoy and buy Doi Chaang coffeee.
