The province of Phayao is located in the north of Thailand, just below that of Chiang Rai. It is a destination very little frequented by foreign tourists offering a quiet getaway far from the urban hustle and bustle. It has some pretty places like Phayao Lake, the largest natural lake in the region, a popular relaxation spot offering scenic views and water activities as well as the location of some interesting Buddhist festivals and ceremonies.
