Located in the North of Thailand, 1.5 hours by road or train, south of Chiang Mai, the province of Lampang is a mountainous region full of charm and history. Its most emblematic monument, Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, an ancient temple perched on a hill, is one of the architectural jewels of the region.
Visitors can explore the city crossed by the Wang River, discover its temples, its large weekend night market, its gastronomy. Lampang is especially famous for 2 things: its pottery and its horse-drawn carriages. Lampang also hosts the Elephant Conservation Center and some incredible temples perched in the mountains. Without forgetting its hot springs.
Visiting Lampang province is quite easy as the city is served by train. It's an interesting stop on the way to Chiang Mai.
Located just before Chiang Mai on the road to the North of Thailand, Lampang is often overlooked by travelers. Yet the city has one of the most beautiful temples of the north, Wat Phra That Lampang Luang and some other equally interesting temples.
