The khlong Sang-Ne, the canal that has been given the best-selling nickname of Little Amazon is nestled in the heart of the lush tropical forest, near the town of Takuapa, about thirty kilometers from Khao Lake. It offers a unique experience of canoeing between giant banyan trees, some of which are said to be over 200 years old, crossing snakes often in the branches above your heads, colorful birds such as hornbills, sometimes monkeys and monitor lizards, a little more shy.

Aboard an inflatable canoe with rowing machine, you glide silently, somewhat in adventurer mode, along the peaceful waters, admiring the fascinating flora and fauna of this preserved ecosystem. Whether you are a nature lover, a photography enthusiast or simply looking for an adventure off the beaten path, the Little Amazon Takuapa promises you a unique experience that few foreign tourists know about.

Practical information about Little Amazon Takuapa

The canoe trip on Little Amazon Takuapa lasts 1 hour and costs 500 THB per boat (2 persons). You have someone paddling (and spotting animals) for you.

It is recommended to call before coming to be sure that they will have canoes and rowers available for you (Tel: 087-280-7009). Otherwise go through a local agency in Khao Lak or through this tour.

If you have snake phobia, this visit might not be a recommended for you. Although snakes are usually just installed in the branches of trees and have no reason to come down if you do not disturb them.
