Panyee Island is usually the drop point for all groups visiting the
Phang Nga bay especially those who visit the
James Bond Island. This small island has a village largely on stilts and is focused on tourism. Half of the floating village consists in large restaurants that feed groups of tourists and a souvenir market mainly selling jewelry and other clothing. The island has two homestays that can be a good option to visit the bay and especially James Bond Island before and after the invasion of groups. The small traditional fishing village has changed a lot since the movie The man with the Golden Gun shot here in 1974 even if the fishery is still an important activity for the population that sees tourists flock especially during high season. In general, the guides take you to see the school and its small marine museum and often forget to tell you the extraordinary story of Panyee's football field(see
here).
