Located in Ao Manao, in the WING 5 military air base adjacent to Prachuap Khiri Khan city, Khao Lom Muak hill can be seen from afar. If you can come all year round to see the dusky langur monkeys that you can approach closely because they are used to humans and no longer wild at all, the ascent of the mountain is only possible a few days a year (I will publish the dates by adding them in the events section on the website on the event called Khao Lom Muak hike), during long weekends with public holidays in Thailand. The view from the top on the two bays, and in particular the one with Prachuap Khiri Khan town and the 3 small islands facing it, is breathtaking! But you have to to be earn it !
If the ascent begins with stairs it is only for about a third of the way, then the path is more rugged and ropes are stretched to help you climb while rangers are also stationed at the the most difficult parts. The last part of the ascent is more climbing than trekking. Going up this mountain is therefore not for everyone. As far as I'm concerned, it took a little less than an hour to reach to the top.

Practical information about Khao Lom Muak mountain
No admission fee.To be able to climb Khao Lom Muak, you have to go to the bottom of the mountain in the military base (you will have to leave your passport in exchange for a pass during the visit) and register in the tent between 6 a.m. and 10:30 am. After this time, it will no longer be possible to start the climb. I recommend you to come as soon as it opens because there are a lot of people and the more you start going in the first groups, the less you will find yourself in the "traffic jams" on the way. Take gloves or buy them when registering (20 THB), it will be very useful to protect your hands on the parts with the rope.
I will put the dates on which the ascent is possible in the events and the ''to do'' part of Prachuap Khiri Khan page on the website but otherwise you can call the Prachuap Tourism Office (032 513 885 or 032 513 871 or 032 513 854) to ask them. But at least on the long weekend of December 31th and Songkran long holidays (April 12-15), it will be possible to climb to the top of Khao Lom Muak.

Khao Lom Muak mount is located in the Ao Manao military base. As for get to its beach, you can hire a tuk-tuk to get there but the best way is to go there by bicycle.
