Practical guide to go and visit Roi Et

Roi Et province is in the middle of Isan, the northesteran part of Thailand. The modern city was founded there more than 200 years ago but 2800 years ago, a village already existed here. Roi Et in Thai language means 101 recalling the 11 gates the city had at a time of its history. The history of the city began in the late Ayutthaya period, when a king of Laos migrated from Champasak City with his people and settled down in the area that is Suwannaphum today. Later, during the reign of King Taksin, Roi Et moved to its current location.
The city of Roi Et is best known for the large standing Buddha of Wat Buraphaphiram. It is the largest of its kind in Thailand. Roi Et has this little peace of cities with very few tourism. You will probably enjoy a relaxing moment in the park on Phalanchai Lake or the visit Wat Klang Ming Muang with its outdoor murals.
If you come from far just to visit Roi Et, you may be a little disappointed but make a stop here on a trip in Isan and see Roi Et's big Buddha, and lounging in the park, can be an enjoyable stay. One day is enough to visit Roi Et.

Accommodations in Roi Et

Hotels in Roi Et are not numerous and most are quite out dated. You can fins discount rooms for a very cheap price but with no charm that backpackers will probably like, others good rooms for more than 1000 baht a night or old 4 stars hotels that did not aged well with rooms at an intermediate price. As for us, pnly Sagate City Center Hotel[/url] seems to combine reasonable rates with modern comfort. Only few tourists come to visit the city and sleep in Roi Et so that explains why the accommodation offer is so poor.
