It is one of the most important Buddhist events in the province. It celebrates the history and culture of the Saket Nakhon people (former name of King Et). Translated literally, Somma Nam means respecting the river, Khuen Pheng means full moon night, Seng means competition and Prathip the ship. Thus, the Somma Keng Pheng Nam Seng Prathip is a tradition of respect for the river on the night of the full moon and krathong competition (rafts).
