Thai name : สะพานมอญ

GPS : 15.14404692,98.44997853 (See on the map)

The Mon bridge of Sangkhlaburi is the real attraction of the city. The Saphan Mony (in Thai) is a wooden bridge built by the Mon that connects the Thai side of the city to Wangkha, the Mon Part. With 400 meters, it is the longest birdge of its kind. Originally it was also used by vehicles but is now only a pedestrian bridge, cars and motobikes use the concrete bridge, a little further. At the beginning of the Mon Bridge you will find a donation box for the maintenance of the bridge.
Sangkhlaburi Mon bridge a particularly interesting place to watch the sunset, and why not while dining in the small restaurant at the beginning of the bridge, on the right, on the Thai side.

Practical information about Sangkhlaburi Mon Bridge

In July 2013, after a very bad weather, the bridge has partially collapsed but it is still a very interesting and photogenic place. Our photos were taken after. A floating bamboo bridge was built at the feet of the wooden bridge a few weeks later in 6 days thanks to an extraordinary mobilization of the Thai and Mon communites who showed their unity. The bridge was repaired and reopen to the public on 18th October 2014.
