Located 75 km from Khao Lak, 40 km from Phang Nga Town and 70 km from Phuket, the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint (
pronounce samett nang shee) offers the most beautiful viewpoint overlooking Phang Nga Bay. Discovered by the professional photographer Khun Theerasak Saksritawee whose pictures made a big buzz, the place quickly became very popular and has grown at great speed to accommodate visitors so that today there are 4 viewpoints with
Sametnangshe Boutique hotel which offers luxury rooms for a hundred euros a night with breathtaking views over the bay. But you can also rent tents to wake up with one of the most amzing views in Thailand (see contacts and information below). On this page, I put the GPS coordinates of the original viewpoint which offers, in my opinion, the best view. You will easily see the other ones on the map by following the link to GoogleMap. If sleeping here is really nice and romantic, you will be far from everything and therefore a bit blocked to see anything else except if you have your own transportation but still it is far from everything interesting except Phang Nga bay of course. It is possible to visit Phang Nga Bay and
James Bond Island by boat from the viewpoint or one of its hotels. But in my opinion a night or two here is enough.
Be aware that if during the week days the attendance remains very reasonable, the palce can be very very crowded during weekends and public holidays in Thailand. There are sometimes kilometers of trafic jam to get there. It is also a good idea to book your room or tent a lot in advance if you want to stay there for a weekend or holiday.
