Chiang Khan Skywalk
Skywalk Chiang Khan, also called Skywalk Phu Khong Ngeo after its Big Standing Buddha's, is a recent construction which opened to the public in December 2020. It is located in Ban Tha Dee Mi, sub-district of Pak Tom, about twenty kilometers from Chiang Khan city in Loei province (Northeastern Thailand). Its 80-meter high glass walkway was built in front of a 19-meter tall standing Buddha. With its 3 circular areas, it offers a breathtaking view of the Mekong River and the Huang River, along the Thai-Laotian border. The skywalk is 100 meters long and 2 meters wide.

The 2 most popular times of the day to visit the Chiang Khan Skywalk are at dawn to contemplate the sea of mist in the cold and wet seasons or, of course, at sunset. It is not a visit I recommend if you are prone to vertigo ! ;)

Since its opening to the public, the place has developed a lot with a parking lot with a lot of pickups for the climb, ATV rental and even an elephant camp. A small amusement park in tourist factory mode is coming, which I personally like less. Even if the view remains beautiful. If possible, avoid coming to the Chiang Khan Skywalk on weekends and public holidays because it is very popular with Thais who love coming to Chiang Khan and the skywalk.

Practical information about Chiang Khan Skywalk

Open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Entrance fee: 60 THB including the ride up and the ride back down in a pickup truck as well as the rental of a pair of velvet slippers to wear when walking on the skywalk.
I decided to not sahre intentionally the information about the elephant camp installed near the parking lot.

How to get to Chiang Khan Skywalk ?

To my knowledge, there is no public transport to get to the foot of the Chiang Khan Skywalk mountain. By car, from Chiang Khan, the journey takes half an hour and from Loei city it takes 1 hour.. If you are not transported, in town, in Chiang Khan, you will easily find tuk-tuks, cars with drivers or agencies to take you there. Check with your hotel or guesthouse.

Some tours going Chiang Khan Skywalk

Offered in Englishenglish guide
Discover 3 provinces of Isan, a region preserved from mass tourism as it is very little offered to foreign tourists. Between temples, natural wonders and moments of simple life with the locals, you will meet artisans and enjoy magnificent sunrises and sunsets over the Mekong River.
