My opinion :

Located about thirty kilometers from Sakon Nakhon, the village of Ban Tha Rae and its essentially Christian community are famous across Thailand for their Chirstmas Star Parade and its illuminated floats. It is one of the two most beautiful Christmas festivals in Thailand with the one in Chanthaburi. There is a night market and the houses are also very nicely decorated during Chrismtmas time. It is clearly a place to go to find the magic of Christmas in Thailand.

Practical information about Ban Tha Rae Community

The rest of the year, it is less interesting to come here even if you can see two buildings in the colonial style and a large cathedral in a rather modern style and also an old building.

How to get to Ban Tha Rae Community ?

There are songtheaws that leave from the Sakon Nakhon bus terminal and go to Ban Tha Rae. Allow just under an hour's drive and 50 THB per person. On the other hand, on the evening of the Christmas parade, there will be none left to return to town.
