- Attend the Christmas festival Every year, for Christmas, Ban Tha Rae community about thirty kilometers from Sakon Nakhon organizes its Christmas Star Parade and a whole festival around it where you can feel the magic of Christmas. The best days are December 23rd and 24th. Be near Ban Tha Rae Church around 6 p.m.
- Indigo dyeing DIY Clothes and other textiles naturally dyed indigo blue are Sakon Nakhon's best known crafts. You can try to make it yourself. Some places offer DIY workshops. It's fun to do and it makes a great souvnir to bring back home.
