In the Khon Kaen city itself, the place to absolutly visit is Wat Nong Wang and maybe the shores of the lake (you can rent bikes) but otherwise despite some other temples and an interesting museum, there is not much to visit in Khon Kaen. By cons outside the town, there are several interesting places more or less far. The best known is probably the Phu Wiang National Park 60 km from the city. But there are also ruins of Khmer temples, beautiful temples with sims (small halls decorated with murals inside and outside). There is also a zoo and the dinosaurs park that your children will probably enjoy a lot. I also listed at the end of the page some good tours, excursions and activities that you can do in Khon Kaen or from Khon Kaen. Click here to see them.
