Ban Chiang is probably the best-known archaeological site in Thailand and for good reason, it is the only one (at least for now) to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It goes back to the Bronze Age and the potteries that were discovered there are famous. By visiting Ban Chiang National Museum located on the site, you can immerse yourself in the history of the most important prehistoric habitat discovered in Southeast Asia so far.
In the streets around, there are many shops where artisans paint vases with the same motives and techniques that their ancestors used and of course you can watch them work and buy some souvenirs.
