Generally, to get to Koh Phi Phi from Bangkok, travelers prefer to fly to Phuket or Krabi and from there take the boats or ferries that connect to the island. Alternatively, they can make the same journey not by plane but by bus, as Phuket and Krabi are not accessible by train.
Alternatively, there are speedboat lines that connect Koh Phi Phi to Koh Lanta, Koh Kipe, or the Trang Islands (Koh Kook, Koh Ngai, Koh Kradan) during high season.

To leave Kho Phi Phi, unless you are going to Koh Lanta, the islands of Trang or Railay (only in high season), you will have to reach Phuket or Krabi by boat or ferry and then, from there, if these are not your final destinations, take the plane or bus to your next destination.

The train is the cheapest way to travel in Thailand especially in 3rd class. This is also where the contact with the population is the most interesting and incredible...
Taking the plance to travel in Thailand is often not that much more expensive than the bus especially with the numerous specials offers and it is so much faster !
The train does not go everywhere in Thailand. It does not serve some destinations tourists love. But by bus you can get almost anywhere in Thailand...
Thailand has many many islands with beautiful beaches and except for Koh Samui and Phuket, the boat is the only option to get on the islands.
