What are the most beautiful beaches in Krabi?

Krabi is renowned for its heavenly beaches with karst cliffs. Here are the most beautiful and renowned ones.

  • Railay Beach: Accessible only by boat, the Railay isthmus offers several beaches, including Railay Beach.
  • Phra Nang Beach: Another Railay beach famous for its cave and rock formations.
  • Ao Nang: The busiest and most beautiful beach closest to Krabi Town. It is the busiest and liveliest tourist spot in Krabi, with many hotels and restaurants. The beach is pleasant but less heavenly than those in Railay.
  • Klong Muang & Tub Kaek: Quieter beaches, ideal for relaxing.

Where to stay in Krabi: Ao Nang, Railay, or Krabi Town?

Best places to stay in Krabi are quite similar to recommended beaches in Krabi, as most people come here to be by the sea. In town, you'll also find hotels, small guesthouses, and hostels with cheaper prices. But most tourists choose a hotel in Ao Nang because everything is close at hand and there are plenty of options for excursions. Otherwise, tourists also like to stay in:

  • Railay: for its exceptional setting, but it's only accessible by boat.
  • Klong Muang/Tub Kaek and its high-end hotels in a peaceful environment, quieter than Ao Nang and Railay.
  • Krabi Town: more local, less touristy, and inexpensive.

What are the best tours from Krabi?

The most popular excursions in Krabi are:

  • The 4-island tour (Poda, Chicken, Tup, Phra Nang to Railay) with snorkeling spots.
  • Koh Hong and other islands with snorkeling there too.
  • Koh Phi Phi for the day by speedboat (very crowded at Maya Bay in high season).
  • Phang Nga Bay although it's generally more popular from Khao Lak or Phuket.

There are also land excursions, such as the one to the Tiger Cave Temple, the Emerald Pool, and the hot springs, or off-the-beaten-track tours that you'll find among our recommendations. href='/en/tours-activities/tours-activities-in-krabi'>excursions in Krabi

When is the best time to visit Krabi?

  • The best time of year weather-wise is from November to March: ideal season, dry and sunny.
  • April to May: intense heat.
  • June to October: rainy season but with fewer tourists. June and May are still very pleasant after that, with much more frequent showers, with the monsoon peaking from September to November.

How to get around Krabi?

The main transportation options in Krabi are:

  • Tuk-tuks: very popular in Ao Nang and town for short trips.
  • White songthaews (shared pickup trucks): an economical way to get between Ao Nang and Krabi Town.
  • Scooter rentals, but remember that you need an international license along with a motorcycle license, otherwise driving is illegal. Make sure your insurance covers scooter driving in Thailand.
  • Longtail boats: to reach Railay in particular, but also for tailor-made private excursions to Koh Hong or other nearby islands.

Where to go kayaking in Krabi?

Krabi is a fantastic place for kayaking thanks to its karst formations and mangroves. The best spots are:

  • Ao Thalane: The bay is famous for its mangroves, caves, and cliffs.
  • Khlong Root: A natural canal with incredibly crystal-clear water that runs through the jungle.
Kayak rentals available on site.
