Wat Tham Khao Wong, 90 kilometers west of Uthaï Thani, is a forest temple built in 1987 located in a pretty corner among mountains. Its 4-storey teak main building in pure Thai style sits enthroned on the hillside in front of a large pond crossed by a pretty wooden bridge in the middle of a charming garden.
A wihaan (ordination hall) is located on the second floor and the monks' refuge is on the third floor. On the fourth floor, there is an ordination hall made of teak and makha wood. Here you will find very realistic statues of revered monks. The roof was brought from Lamphun and craftsmen from Ayutthaya crafted the decorative elements.
Along the way to the cave (Tham in Thai means cave), there is an artificial waterfall and at the back of the mountain, you will find 7 caves which are used for some of them as meditation places for the monks.
