Visit Wat Pong Sanuk (Lampang)

This small temple consists of several parts: in the center, elevated, accessible by a staircase, is the golden chedi, a unique cross-shaped pavilion, the Viharn Phra Chao Phan Ong, and a lobby housing a long reclining Buddha, it is the best known part of this temple. On either side, at the street level, there is an ordination hall and also a small museum. The architecture of the temple is inspired by Lanna, Burmese and Chinese styles.

It was at the time of the founding of Lampang, more than 500 years ago, during the reign of King Anantayot, that a temple was established here. In 2008, the Wat Pongsanuk Restoration Project received the UNESCO Merit Award for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage.
