Built at the top of Khao Chong Krachok mountain which overlooks the waterfront of Prachuap Khiri Khan city, this fairly new temple offers breathtaking views over the city and two bays. The hill is inhabited by a horde of monkeys which are more present at the street level because it is where locals feed them but you will also come across some along the 396 steps leading up to the monastery. At the top, a small golden chedi and a small hall with the imprint of Buddha but above all a 360 ° view on Prachuap and the surroundings.
The macaques are much less numerous than first time I came here and used to life near humans, most of the time they will not really care about you but do not take any food with you when you go there. I also have to remind you that if they bite or scratch you, you must go to the hospital with no delay because rabies is not eradicated in Thailand (I remind you that rabies is a fatal disease and once the symptoms appear, sometimes months later, it's too late to be treated).
