Visit Wat Chang Lom (Sukhothai)

g_translate Thai name : วัดช้างล้อม
reviews My opinion: starstarstarstar
Sukhothai
Located behind the Legendha Sukhothai Hotel by the Mae Lamphan river, this temple is outside the three paying zones of the historical park, along a pleasant cycle path. Its main element is a bell-shaped chedi supported by a base surrounded by 32 elephant statues (chang in Thai means elephant) some have been restored but most of them no longer have their heads. Opposite to te chedi is the ruins of the vihara. Only the ground and the columns remain.

With the 3 paying areas of the historical park, you already have a lot of temples to see but this one is worth to go too. Especially if you are staying at the Legendha Sukhothai Hotel given that it is really right behind it ! Note that there is also a larger, more beautiful and more interesting temple called Wat Chang Lom in Si Stachanalai historical park about sixty kilometers from Sukhothai.

Practical information about Wat Chang Lom

No admission because the temple is not part of the 3 paying areas of the historic park.
Open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

How to get to Wat Chang Lom ?

Wat Chang Lom is 1.5 km from the entrance to the central part of Sukhothai Historical Park. So easily accessible by cycling, especially since there is a nice little road that runs along it, ideal for bicycles.
