Song Wat Road is one of the historic arteries of Bangkok's Chinatown. Far from the hustle and bustle of Yaowarat Road, it retains an authentic charm with its Sino-Portuguese facades, family-run shops, and century-old warehouses. Bordering the Chao Phraya River in places, the street offers a glimpse of the traditional commercial activity that has enlivened the area for over a century. Recently transformed into a trendy, retro, hipster hotspot, Songwat Road was listed as one of the 40 coolest neighborhoods in the world by Time Out magazine. There are truly interesting shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, pastry shops, and galleries with a keen eye for detail and decor. There are also some lovely street art works.

Guide to visit Song Wat Road
Note that Song Wat Road is very popular, especially with Thais (still relatively unknown to Western tourists), so it's very busy, especially on weekends. And as mentioned, less so in the evenings.
While there are a few street restaurants, these are mostly trendy spots, so they're not exactly the best place to eat cheaply. For that, it's best to walk ten minutes to Yaowarat Road, which is home to Bangkok's largest street food scene in the evening.
How to get to Song Wat Road ?
To get to Song Wat Road by public transport, the most convenient way is to take the Chao Phraya Express and get off at N5 Ratchawong; you'll be at the end of the street. Otherwise, the nearest subway station is Wat Mangkon on the MRT Blue Line.
