Visit Kram Sakon Indigo dyeing (Sakon Nakhon)

One of the most famous handicrafts in Sakon Nakhon province is the indigo dyeing of clothes with baths composed only of natural products and based on Kram leaves, the plant used here to obtain the blue color. There are several places which offer workshops to visitors where they can choose a handkerchief, a scarf, a T-Shirt or a bag and dye them themselves by choosing a design from a large catalog and being accompanied step by step by the staf. It's really fun to do ! It is something you also find in other provinces in Thailand like Phrae but it is not the same plant that is used for the indigo color.

Kram Sakon is probably the best known and best organized place in Sakon Nakhon to do indigo dyeing. They also have a boutique where they sell their own creations: scarves, bedspreads, plush toys, shirts, decorations and dresses...

The price of the DIY dyeing workshop depends on the type of cloth you choose and is from 250 to 800 THB.
Kram Sakon is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Count around 2 hours to make your own indigo cloth or bag and get it back after a little while to make it dryer.
