Your Travel Guide to Thailand
All information & tips to prepare your trip in Thailand
The Pak Khlong Talat is Bangkok's largest flower market, located in the city (there is another one on the outskirts). Open 24 hours a day, it is particularly lively in the evenings and at night, when florists come to stock up. This iconic market is a unique place where the colors, scents, and bustle create an authentic and photogenic atmosphere.
The market is located at the corner of Chak Phet Road and Pak Khlong Road, along the Chao Phraya River, in the Phra Nakhon district. It is just a 10-minute walk from Wat Pho and about a 15-minute walk from the Grand Palace. It's therefore an excellent stop to include in a visit to Bangkok's historic center to see a typical local market.
Originally, Pak Khlong Talat was a fish market... located on the banks of a canal (pak khlong means canal mouth in Thai). It gradually transformed into a wholesale fruit and vegetable market in the early 20th century, before becoming a major flower market in the 1950s, supplied daily by growers from all over the country (notably Chiang Mai, Nakhon Pathom, and Ratchaburi).
Although Google Maps may indicate opening hours from 9 AM to 5 PM, Pak Khlong Talat Flower Market is actually open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
