Located in the south of the island, this little-used pier offers a pleasant setting and a nice viewpoint, especially at sunset, although depending on the season the sun is more or less visible.
Ban Tha Laem Pier can be part of a lovely loop by bicycle or tuk-tuk (here they are called salengs) that crosses the rice fields and then continues on to Watermelon Beach and Ban Thung. Personally, it’s a route I really enjoy doing in the late afternoon for the atmosphere and the warm colors of the sky as the sun gets closer to setting.
There is also a Koh Sukorn sign for those who want to take selfies showing where they are. It’s nicer at high tide, but it’s rare to have high tide at the end of the day.
Guide to visit Ban Tha Laem Pier
Unlike the somewhat isolated Koh Sukorn Viewpoint, here we are in an area with houses nearby, so going there in the evening is not discouraged, although if on a bicycle, I think you should try to get back to your hotel before nightfall, as the roads are poorly lit or not lit at all in Koh Sukorn.
How to get to Ban Tha Laem Pier ?
To get to Ban Tha Laem Pier, as in most places on Koh Sukorn, unless it's near your hotel or homestay, the best option is to hire a tuk-tuk or rent bicycles.
