Khon is a traditional Thai theater, recognized by UNESCO for its cultural richness. This spectacular art form dates back centuries and developed from religious and royal traditions. Khon is characterized by the use of elaborate masks, representing mythological characters, and sumptuous costumes. Performances involve a skillful combination of choreographed movements, live music and sung dialogue. This masked theater plays a significant role in preserving and celebrating Thailand's cultural heritage, conveying epic stories and moral teachings through its visually arresting performances.
The MBK shopping center in the heart of Bangkok (BTS National Stadium station) offers free performances every last Thursday of the month throughout 2024. There will be 2 each time; one at 3 p.m. and one at 6 p.m. Free entry.
The performances will be given on the Ground Floor.
