Must-sees & Must-Dos in Si Saket?

What to do and see in Si Saket

The most emblematic temple in Si Saket is Wat Maha Buddharam, not far from the train station but the funniest to visit one is probably Phra That Ruang Rong and its many statues, just outside the city. We also advise you to spend a relaxing afternoon in the very pleasant Srinagarindra Park (there are many different spellings) and its zoo that children love in general. In the rest of the province, the one million bottles temple, Wat Lan Khuat built with glass bottles and cement, is undoubtedly the curiosity of the region. There are also many Khmer ruins, the most notable being Kamphaneg Noi and Kamphaeng Yai ruins. At the Cambodian border, there is also the Khao Phra Whihan National Park unfortunately often closed due to dispute between Thailand and Cambodia about Preah Vihear temple vicinity.

Other visits suggestions in Si Saket

  • Other khmer ruins
in Si Skaet province (Sa Kamphaeng Yai, Huai Thap Thanor Tha or Prang Ku just to name a few). They are very numerous in the vicinity of Si Saket and often has very modest size. You better have a car or motocycle if you want to visit them.
  • Khao Phra Wihan National Park
Closer to Kantharalak than Si Saket, the park is on the border with Cambodia and has access to the magnificent temple of Preah Vihear. It also offers stunning views on the temple and the surrounding nature. The problem is that Thailand and Cambodia claim Preah Vihear ownership, the International Court of Justice is studying the case, and access to the temple from Thailand is not possible anymore. The park is also regularly closed to the public. So ask before coming to avoid making the trip for nothing.
