At about 80 km in the South of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ban Krut is a highly tourist destination for thai tourists arriving by group buses. So this haven of tranquility with its long beach, the mountains with a golden-roofed Wat Tang Sai temple with its huge Buddha of the same brightness, completely changes on weekends and thai holidays.
At that times, the accommodations prices easily jump 20 to 30%. The beach is ideally oriented for a sunset on the horizon.
Besides, the waterfront and the Wat Tang Sai with its Pra Mahatat Jede Pukde Prakad pagoda and the big Pra Phut Takitti Sirichai bouddha, do not expect much to see but is good place to live during week days. There is also a small port in a river between the beach and the road that goes to the mountain of the temple behind the Ruen Talay Resort. Rent a scooter or a bike and go around, you will find many pieces of deserted beach. If you stay several days you usually can negotiate the price of the room down.
On the waterfront when you arrive in the city, the right side is the least busy with the most luxurious resorts and at left is the area that has the highest concentration of mid-range resorts ( count at least 500 THB and most of the time 700 THB for very well bungalows during the week and between 800 and 1000 THB during week-ends and Thai holidays ).
Note that in addition to visiting the temple, in the morning a trip to the market next to the train station can be fun especially to buy what you eat during your travel to other destinations.
Most of the guesthouses and bungalows resorts in Ban Krut are located on Thongchai Beach. They are usually separated from the beach by the road. Ban Krut is one of those very popular among Thais destinations. They come in group or family to spend the weekend or holiday. The rooms rates are more expensive these days, and there are fewer rooms available. If you can rather stay here on weekdays.

My recommandations
People often ask me what accommodations I recommend in Thailand, here are my recommandations in Ban Krut.
The easiest way to go to Ban Krut, is the train (you can book your tickets online HERE). There are only 3 trains per day. By bus, you will usually be droped on the highway not far away and need to hire a motorcycle taxi to reach the city. Same for leaving you will have to go on the highway and wave the bus as it passes.

The easiest way to go to Ban Krut is clearly by train (you can book tickets online on this website. There are certainly not so many trains stopping at Ban Krut and they are rarely on time but at least you are sure to arrive in the city and not be droped on the highway by the bus or minivan you have taken.
Ban Krut has a tropical savanna climate. Temperatures do notvary a lot throughout the year and the dry and wet season is not as clearly defined as in most parts of Thailand. The rainiest month is October.
The best months to come to Ban Krut are from December to April but even during the monsoon, precipitation here remains fairly moderate except for a few isolated episodes with possible flash floods. October is the only month when coming here is maybe not recommended.
We have been waiting for it for months, hoping it will happen on July 1, but it will finally be October 1, 2022, when Thailand will lift the last COVID restrictions to enter the country. From this date, it will no longer be necessary to show...
