Dugongs are marine mammals whose species is protected. If I had to describe them to you, I would say they are a bit like a mix between a seal and a dolphin. Koh Libong is known as an observation point for dugongs. They can be seen furtively off the island on its west, east and south coasts. There is also an observation tower at Batu Pute Village.
Guide to visit Watch dugongs
Note that if instead of returning to Koh Libong pier to elave the island, you choose to privatize a longtail boat from the beach of your resort to join Hat Yao, you may be lucky and see dugongs during the crossing.
