Located along highway 21, 15 kilometers from Phu Ruea National Park and 6 kilometers from Phu Ruea city, Wat Pa Huay Lad is a recent temple with unique architecture surrounded by a lake, forest and mountains. Its royal ordination hall with a 3 roof levels houses a large seated white calcite Buddha named Phra Samphanya Rujang Dansarmlok. There used to be two rows of gilded statues of prominent monks which have now been grouped together on the left side.
The outside is also interesting with from the parking lot a large statue of the Chinese goddess Guan Yin, a long naga, statues of elephants ... It is a very photogenic temple in Thailand and easy to visit if you are transported and drive between Loei and Dansai.

How to get to Wat Pa Huay Lad ?
There is not really any public transport to go directly to Wat Pa Huay Lad but you can take a bus to Phu Ruea (or a bus between Loei and Dansai or a Loei - Phitsanulok bus which goes there) and be dropped off at the Phu Ruea market and there, it's up to you to find someone to take you the temple. In fact, the Dansai - Loei bus can drop you off on Highway 21 at the closest intersection but there will be a good kilometer to walkto reach the temple and it will not necessarily be that easy to catch a bus again on the main raod afterwards if you're nit used to it. By the way, if you come to Dansai for the Phi Ta Khon Festival, add Wat Pa Huai Lat to your program !
