Wat Mahathat is the oldest temple in Chiang Khan. Built in the 17th century, it remains some of the original walls of its ordination hall. On the exterior facades you can see erased and discolored murals. This is the real point of interest of this temple that seemed to be renovation last time we came (july 2015). Maybe we will restore it to its former splendor...
At the rear to the right of the ordination hall, there is a small chedi. The visit of Wat Mahathat is very fast.
