Phra Nang Cave is located on Phra Nang Beach on the Railay Isthmus in Krabi Province. Small, it houses a small sanctuary with another somewhat similar a few meters before.
The Hat Tham Phra Nang takes its name from the cave housing a shrine dedicated to the female goddess, Phranang. Fishermen and local people pay their respects before heading out to sea to get a good catch. Visitors can also show their respect by offering small wooden figurines or talismans, of a... particular shape. Indeed, they are phalluses.
Legends say that those who show respect and devotion to the goddess (or princess, hence the name Princess Cave) will be blessed with luck and fortune. Wooden figurines are offered as offerings, and numerous phallic talismans adorn the surroundings of the cave.
