On the highest point of Koh Samui, in the mountains of the island, a temple was built : Wat Theepangkorn or is being built because it is still partly under construction. Its large esplanade with a large golden standing Buddha offers a beautiful view overlooking Lamai beach and Lamai coconut trees plantation. It is a very beautiful viewpoint that many visitors contemplate before quickly leaving the place and going somewhere else. It is a great pity because if they took the time to go to the little Watlamai Discovery Museum across the path and climb onto its top floor terrace they would have a 360 ° view of Koh Samui. In addition, the museum is not uninteresting with lots of old traditional objects.
The view from the large building under construction also promises to be interesting but it should not be finished before many months. If you are hungry at the bottom of the car park, after the pink Ganesha statue, there is a nice small local restaurant.
The road to Wat Teepangkorn is not easy, do not venture there by scooter if you are not a very skilled 2 wheels driver. This stop is on the program of some Koh Samui agencies that take you there in 4x4 cars.
