This mountain area is pleasant for the views it offers, sometimes with a sea of mist in the morning. There are nice coffe shops and resorts with a view overlooking the valley. The best known is the one with its heart-shaped tree. The GPS coordinates I indicate to locate Ban Rak Thaï Phitsanulok are actually the coordinates of this place.
Accommodations up there are quite popular with Thais on weekends and public holidays, especially in winter season. They come up there looking for freshness and nature. It's a nice getaway for the day or for 2 days and one night, not really longer as the place is not that big. Personally, as it was 1 hour from our house in Phichit, I went there regularly on weekends with my family. I also promised myself to spend once one night at the View Camp, whose large tents offer an incredible view.
Guide to visit Ban Rak Thai
There are several places called Baan Rak Thai in Thailand. The best known is the Baan Rak Thai village in Mae Hong Son. The one in Phitsanulok province is just over an hour's drive from Phitsanulok or Phichit.
How to get to Ban Rak Thai ?
There is no easily accessible public transport to get to Ban Rak Thai from Phitsanulok city (there must be a public bus but I'm not sure) and none from Phichit. The best way to get up there is to have your own transportation. Many places are closed on weekdays so prefer to go there on weekends or public holiday in Thailand. And if you want to sleep in Ban Rak Thai Phitsanulok on a weekend or public holiday, book weeks in advance.
