Phitsanulok is a crossroads of bus lines in the North. So you can easily connect to Phitsanulok from most northern cities but also from cities in Isan (North-East Thailand). From Bangkok, buses leave from Mochit. Every day, many trains also stop in Phitsanulok which is the last city with a train station before Sukhothai. There are three daily flights from Bangkok to Phitsanulok (Don Muang Airport).

IMPORTANT: from 19th January 2023, 52 trains leave or arrive in Bangkok at brand new Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station, the other ones will still depart and arrive in Hua Lamphong Station (until next step to move all trains to the new Bangkok railway station). From Phitsanulok you can continue your journey to Chiang Mai or go down to Lopburi, Ayutthaya and Bangkok by train. Otherwise by bus, you can go across the North and most of the major destinations in Isan. Go to Kampheang Phet, Sukhothai (1:30 bus) or Si Satchanalai to visit their Historical Parks. A return to Bangkok by plane is also possible (3 flights per day).
