Information about Sak Yant Khru Wai Festival at Wat Bang Phra

Sak Yants are traditional Thai tattoos engraved in the skin by Buddhist monks supposed to bring protection and luck. Each year, more than 10,000 people gather at Wat Bang Phra, a Buddhist temple in Nakhon Chaisi district in Nakhon Pathom province, 50 kilometers from Bangkok.

On the previous day, there is a magic recharge of sacred tattoos ceremony and on D-Day, a group of Buddhist masters and monks gather at the temple to apply 1000 new tattoos. Hygiene conditions are not as strict as in a tattoo parlor and that making this tattoos is not without risk for your health.
