A little on the outskirts of Ubon Ratchathani, not far from the Bus Terminal, Wat Nong Bua is interesting for its rare in Thailand and unique in the region architecture. The temple is that is very similar to the Mahabodhi Bodhgaya in India which inspired the construction of Wat Phra That Nong Bua. The white square base 55 meters high stupa is decorated with gold. It stands in the middle of a marble slabs square, with smaller stupas at each corner. The central stupa was built on a samaller stupa which is now housed in the main stupa and you can visit. Around this elements there are other less notable buildings including a large recent ubosot with large round windows and a sitting Buddha at the front.
