Wat Muen Ngoen Kong whose name could translate as the temple of ten thousand piles of gold is not the most famous temple in Chiang Mai city which has a lot of temples but it is worth to have a look for those who are not bored of temples in Thailand. Located in the central square of Chiang Mai Old City, a few minutes walk from Nong Buak Haad Park, this 14th century temple has several halls, one of which houses a reclining Buddha (too dark for me to have it in my pictures because I visited it just before it closes) and a golden chedi on the back. Its Lanna-style wihaan and its atmosphere of a small temple a little hidden in small streets make it a place that does not lack charm even if it is not a must visit in Chiang Mai.
