Wat Bang Chak is located opposite Koh Kret island on the banks of Chao Phraya river which bypasses the island. We can see its 27 meters high big Buddha from far away but it is not the only interesting element of the temple. The base under the statue shelters corridors with Buddhas and statuettes which are accessed by three symbolic doors. One is the open mouth of a dragon, opposite, the open mouth of a tiger and finally the door at the back of the giant Buddha represents Phra Rua deity of sun and moon eclipses. Around there are paintings of other temples while at the back you will find an interesting a garden with sculptures of moments from the life of Lord Buddha and His different incarnations.
I really recommend that you pay a visit to Wat Bang Chak either before visiting Koh Kret or once on the island by taking the ferry to cross the river just opposite, visit the temple and cross the river again back to Koh Kret.
