This royal palace with a European architectural style was originally called "Wang Ban Puen". King Rama V ordered its construction in 1909 and financed it his personal funds. It was his palace for the rainy season since 1916 and was used to welcome and accommodate state visitors during the reign of King Rama VI. Today, turned into a museum, it devotes a room to the German architect Karl Döhring who was chosen to draw it.
