Visit Museum Siam (Bangkok)

Located at exit 1 of the MRT Sanam Chai subway station, Museum Siam is housed in an elegant historic building in Bangkok's old town. It offers a discovery of Thailand, but rather than simply lining up display cases filled with ancient objects, the museum seeks to help visitors understand how Thai society was built and what it truly means to be Thai.

The permanent exhibition, entitled Decoding Thainess, allows visitors to see the evolution of Thai society and identity from the beginning of the Rattanakosin period, when Bangkok became the capital of the Kingdom, up to the present day. The tour goes through 14 rooms covering various facets of Thailand: history, architecture, beliefs, traditions, clothing, food, language, and daily life, featuring games, interactive installations, projections, and augmented reality. It is a modern and interactive museum.

History of the Museum Siam Building

Museum Siam occupies the former Ministry of Commerce building constructed in 1922 in a historic district of Bangkok.
