Khao Krajom is one of the highest points in the mountainous Suan Phueng area of Ratchaburi province. The summit offers a nice panoramic view of the mountains. However, the view isn't all that incredible except during sunrises with a sea of clouds when weather conditions are favorable. The viewpoint at the top also offers a view of the sunset on the more scenic side, but people mostly come for the sea of mist in the morning. Plus, getting up there is quite an adventure—a bumpy one at that. The ascent takes 40 minutes and is impossible to do by car without a 4x4, and a very good 4x4 with a skilled driver at that. Personally, I found it a lot of fun, even though I didn't get a sea of mist at the top and the sunrise wasn't extraordinary.
Guide to visit Khao Krajom Viewpoint
The 4x4 ascent from the temple parking lot at the bottom of the mountain costs 1,500 THB per vehicle (up to 6 people), but you can ask your resort for a pick-up, in which case the price will be closer to 2,000 THB. You must book the day before by phone at 082-1979265 or via your hotel in Suan Phueng.
You can camp at the top to watch both the sunset and sunrise, but bring your own supplies since the only shop sells only instant noodles, drinks, coffee, hot chocolate, and chips. However, showers and toilets are available.
To climb Khao Krajom, you need to stay at a hotel in the Suan Phueng district. Most of them can arrange the excursion up there for you.
