As surprising as it may seem, Ubon Ratchathani has a beach. It does not face the sea but on the Mun River. This is primarily due to a small island connected to the city by a long bamboo bridge and therefore only accessible by foot. There is a row of small huts where you can sit and order food and drink, and possibly swim but the water is not very clear, you may not encourage the Thais them do. The water is shallow. The place is particularly popular on weekends and ground water memorable battles during Songkhran.
