Located near the famous Bueng Boraphet Lake, about 10 kilometers east of Nakhon Sawan city center, the Bueng Boraphet Aquarium is both impressive—with its tunnel running through the main tank—and educational, as it showcases almost all fish species inhabiting the Chao Phraya River and its tributaries. You’ll surely be amazed by the size of some of these fish!
Through several tanks, the aquarium presents a wide variety of local aquatic species:
Giant Mekong fish: including the famous Mekong giant catfish, an iconic and endangered species.
Typical Thai freshwater fish: such as perches, carps, catfish, and bubble-nest fish characteristic of central Thailand’s marshlands.
Turtles and amphibians: several local specimens, sometimes rare, displayed in small educational enclosures.
This is a visit that should delight children—in any case, my daughter absolutely loved it!

How to get to Bueng Boraphet Aquarium ?
I’m not sure if there’s a local bus connecting the city to the aquarium—I imagine there is. If not, you can easily book a car with a driver through the Grab app.
